San Francisco To Amend Its Laws Favoring Harboring Of Illegal Immigrants
The killing of 32-year-old Kathryn Steinle by a Mexican illegal immigrant has torched up the debate over the fate of illegal immigrants in the US. While some say they should be deported to their countries, others are against this. There are even some cities in the States that refuse to cooperate with federal authorities at this front. They seem to foster such illegal immigration into the US.
The tragic incident brought out the views of both parties in the US Senate on the issue. This has been quite a contentious issue in political quarters in the States for quite some time.
Republicans accuse laxity on the part of the Obama administration in terms of deporting illegal migrants. The Republicans are in favour of a legislation to discourage some cities taking up illegal immigrants in their folds. These laws hindered in the successful cooperation between local authorities and federal authorities on the issue.
Republicans have been opposed to a legislation that facilitates the deportation of criminal offenders, as per their colleagues in the Democrat wing.
The Obama administration has been accused of harboring sanctuary laws that make it easier for illegal immigrants to commit serious crimes like the murder of Katheryn Steinle. Irrational federal policies of dealing with cases of immigration are believed to be responsible for such cases.
The lax laws governing the city of San Francisco have added up to the death of the young lady. Comments made by Presidential candidate Donald Trump in this context raked up a storm. He said that most Mexican migrants can be classified as criminals. His negative sentiments against Mexicans have got a boost since Steinle's murder. The recent incident is just one of the many across the States, he said.
